If you’re shopping for a new camera and you don’t have the need or want for a bulky DSLR, you might be interested to learn that Panasonic has announced two new relatively compact cameras in the form of the Panasonic Lumix GX9 and the Lumix ZS200, with the former being a mirrorless camera while the latter is a compact camera.

While clearly both cameras are aimed at different types of photographers, if there is one feature that they both can shoot and record 4K video at framerates of 30fps and 24fps, which while not exactly the buttery-smooth 60fps that some are hoping for, is still pretty good enough for regular videography work. Apart from that, that’s pretty much where the similarities end.

With the Lumix GX9, it will feature a 20.3MP sensor that will be powered by the Venus Engine. It also has an ISO range of 100-25,600, continuous shooting speeds of up to 9fps, 5-axis dual I.S. stabilization, and a contrast AF system with Depth From Defocus that allows the camera to focus in as little as 0.07s. There will also be a 3-inch 1.24 million dot tilting touchscreen LCD.

As for the Lumix ZS200, just because it is a compact doesn’t mean it won’t be worth your time. If you’re looking to save the hassle and expenses of buying multiple lenses and changing them, the ZS200 will come with a Leica DC Vario-Elmar 15x zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24-360mm. There is also a built-in 5-axis Hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer system, and a 3-inch touchscreen LCD on the back.

In terms of pricing, the Lumix GX9 will be priced at $999 with a 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 kits lens and will be available in March. The Lumix XZ200 will also be available in March where it will be priced at $800.
